Plant Manager (Production/Manufacturing)

Our Morristown, Tennessee locations are registered as establishments with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). We have clean working environments in a light industrial setting that are heated and cooled based on the seasons.


How will you contribute to the team?

  • Drives a culture of continuous improvement and corrective action where we are hard on the process, not the person. Evaluates manufacturing processes/ systems and drives implementation and improvement of these using data analytics extracted from ERP systems, production collected data, and auxiliary data from the cost accounting team. Ensure improvement sustainability.
  • Establishes and maintains effective partnering relationships with strong lines of communication within TEAM Technologies and with external suppliers, customers, auditors, and community organizations.
  • Tracks key performance metrics against plant goals (e.g. absorption, variance, scrap, OTD, complaint rate, etc.) and takes corrective action when not compliant.
  • Drives efficient production and assembly operations utilizing lean tools such as Six Sigma, DOE, TPM, and MRP planning to continuously drive down costs, reduce scrap/ rework, and improve on time delivery.
  • Plans implementation of overall plant capital to improve uninterrupted production, personnel safety, cost reduction, and successful product development. This includes regular reviews of plant capital plan (goals, targets, schedules) and final plant review of all capital request submissions.
  • Supports and promotes ISO9001, ISO13485, MDSAP, GMP, social audit compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and product validation requirements/ documentation.
  • Promotes and sets the EH&S expectations for their plant. Tracks TRIR/LWDR and establishes corrective actions for injuries and near misses. Participates in safety awareness promotions, accident investigations, various safety committee meetings, and EH&S related terminations. Ensures their plant is always OSHA inspection ready.
  • Collaborates successfully with plant and corporate financial and commercial leadership in developing and executing financial budgets and commitments. Sets, deploys, and revises plant operations strategy required to achieve financial, operational, and commercial goals.
  • Develops staff by providing coaching, training, communication/feedback to ensure staff achieves their maximum potential, meets position expectations and/or are prepared for advancement.
  • Performs other duties as required, e.g. cross facility projects, strategic planning, and internal / external audits.

What will you contribute?

  • Strong management /leadership skills with the ability to develop an agile and effective plant operations team through employee training, motivation, effective communication, and rewards.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and establish improvement plans for key operating data and measures.
  • Ability to read and understand typical financial statements and use this understanding to identify and deep dive problem areas.
  • Proficiency with operational skills such as: Change Management, Project Management, manufacturing/ engineering related Analytics, Cellular Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen, A3, Waste Elimination, Level Production, One Piece Flow, DOE, Poka-Yoke, Jidoka, etc.).
  • Knowledgeable of quality skills such as: Validation processes (SAT/FAT & IQ/OQ/PQ), Systems (ISO9001, ISO13485, MDSAP, GMP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communicator with writing, verbal, and public speaking skills.

Education / Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of manufacturing experience (2+ plant or plant department management role)
  • Six Sigma certification, MBA, and/ or AX experience considered a plus.
  • Experience in Medical Device or Pharmaceutical manufacturing considered a strong plus.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sustain walking and standing for long periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending, squatting, reaching, and occasional light lifting.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Occasional business travel involving overnight stays will be required.
